AL (August 26, 2010) – Lawson State Community
College has been ranked by Washington Monthly
as one of “America’s 50 Best Community
Colleges.” Lawson State ranked number
39 out of more than 600 nationwide on the 2010
Community College Rankings list.
“We are very proud to have made the list.
What makes this even more significant is that
the results were based largely on student engagement
and student experiences at the Colleges,"
said Dr. Perry W. Ward, president of Lawson
State Community College.

State Receives State Energy Sector and Partnership Grant
August
26, 2010 – Lawson State Community
College has been approved by the Governor’s
Office for a State Energy Sector and Partnership
Grant funded by the U. S. Department of Labor
in the amount of $587,675 for the purpose
of training for jobs in the maintenance and
inspection of alternative powered vehicles
such as liquefied and compressed natural gas,
hybrid and electric vehicles, etc.
“This is a welcome opportunity as it
will allow us to provide beneficial training
to more than 600 individuals,” said
Tommy Hobbs, Business and Industry liaison
for Lawson State.

- When the annals of time are turned, the
Lawson State Community College Foundation
Gala 2010 will have marked two significant
milestones – the establishment of the
Dr. Ethel H. Hall Endowed Scholarship to provide
student scholarships and the recognition of
the 60th Anniversary of Lawson State Community
College. Approximately 900 persons, including
the Lawson State family, sponsors, corporate
and community partners, elected officials
and other guests were present to support the
Foundation efforts and celebrate the legacies
of service.
