Lawson State Community College TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded  by the U.S  Department of Education . This undergraduate retention program is designed to assist first generation, limited income and/or disabled students graduate.   The SSS program provides opportunities for academic development and serves to motivate students towards the successful completion of their post-secondary education.  SSS is committed to providing proactive, intrusive, comprehensive and innovative services to enhance student's success at LSCC and beyond.  SSS provides an array of  services including but not limited to individualized academic counseling, coaching, supplemental financial assistance (GRANT AID), social and cultural enrichment programing, professional tutoring, workshops that improve academic skills, broaden career perspectives,  physical/mental health awareness,  promotes self confidence, address various non-cognitive factors and transfer assistance.


The goal of SSS is to increase the retention and graduation rates of its participants from a wholistic perspective.   We are not just addressing academics, but the entire student.  

Program Service Eligibility

Students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a program of post-secondary education at Lawson State Community College.   First-generation , limited income college students and /or students with disabilities evidencing academic need are eligible to participate in Student Support Services (SSS). 

Grant AID Eligibility

Students in good academic standing, evidence of a limited income (receiving  PELL Grant) and have participated in the program for one full semester, are eligible to be considered for supplemental financial assistance .
