Lawson State TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded undergraduate retention program designed to help first generation, PELL-eligible and disabled students graduate from college. The SSS program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students towards the successful completion of their post-secondary education.  SSS is committed to providing proactive, intrusive, comprehensive and innovative services to enhance student's success at LSCC and beyond.  SSS provides an array of  services including individualized academic counseling, coaching, financial assistance (GRANT AID), social and cultural enrichment programing, professional tutoring, workshops that improve academic skills, broaden career perspectives,  promote self confidence and address various non-cognitive factors. 


The goal of SSS is to increase the retention and graduation rates of its participants. In addition to assisting them with transitioning to four year institution.

Program Service Eligibility

Students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a program of post-secondary education at Lawson State Community College.  PELL-eligible students, first-generation college students or students with disabilities evidencing academic need are eligible to participate in Student Support Services. 

Grant AID Eligibility

Students in good academic standing, currently receiving PELL and who are participants of the program for one full semester are eligible to be considered for supplemental financial assistance .
