As of July 8, 2020--COVID-19 POSITIVE TEST RESULTS NOTIFICATIONS (LAWSON STATE)
Lawson State Community College has received notice that at this time an employee tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently quarantined and receiving medical treatment in accordance with public health protocols. Out of an abundance of caution and in our efforts to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus we will be notifying all employees who had close contact with the individual, to the extent possible, and these persons will be asked to self-quarantine for the next 14 days.
Health and safety remain our number one priority. Lawson State is following medical protocols from state and national health authorities and has implemented recommended guidelines in relation to social distancing, hygiene, travel, and visits to the College. In addition, we are taking additional steps to attempt to ensure the cleanliness or all of our facilities. While we hope and pray this will be the only positive tests for COVID-19 within our College community, in the event there are others of which we become aware, we will use our best efforts to notify those we are able to determine have had contact with that individual so they may take recommended health measures.
The College is committed to keeping you updated on the local COVID-19 risk and will provide direction to our staff, students and families with additional instruction as appropriate.
Lawson State Community College is dedicated to protecting the safety of its students and employees. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its classification as a pandemic virus, the College (along with all other 2-year colleges in the state) ENDED
ground instruction in March of 2020 (as directed by the Alabama Community College System) and transitioned to virtual (online) instruction via Blackboard for all students enrolled, regardless of discipline. Students whose classes changed from ground to virtual are expected to login Blackboard daily and follow their regularly scheduled course start times (but via Blackboard) and participate in all virtual "live" class sessions.
Students should also check LSCC email daily as well. The College will send more updates as needed. Until then, it is important for all students and employees to continue to read updates as they are announced via Lawson's website and via email. It is equally important for all students and employees to practice good social distancing practices as a means of protection.
Fall Classes: Classes for the fall term will be delivered via three varied means-- online (delivered fully online), virtual (via online video conferencing tools) and hybrid (50% on campus for labs and 50% off campus, delivered virtually). Go the Virtual Campus (via Current Students or Quick Links on the main website) to view more information about registration and the current fall schedule of course options.
